This past weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to photograph a truly special event: the 90th birthday celebration of Edna Salvanera at the beautiful Lucban Academy. It was a day filled with joy, laughter, and heartfelt moments, and I was honored to be there to capture it all.
As a photographer, I always strive to bring out the essence of each event, and Edna’s milestone birthday was no exception. The venue was vibrant, adorned with colorful decorations that set the perfect backdrop for the festivities. However, the challenge of the evening came from the DJ lights, which created a stunning yet tricky lighting situation. With no constant white lights available, I had to rely on my skills in off-camera flash to balance the colorful casts and ensure that Edna and her guests looked their best.
Using my Fujifilm camera, I was able to experiment with different lighting techniques. The off-camera flash allowed me to create dynamic portraits that popped against the colorful background. I loved how the flashes added depth and dimension to the images, making each shot feel alive and engaging.
In post-processing, I embraced the vibrant color casts from the DJ lights, enhancing them to create a lively and festive atmosphere in the photos. The result was a collection of images that not only captured the essence of the celebration but also reflected the joy and energy of Edna’s special day.
From candid moments of laughter to heartfelt speeches, every photograph tells a story. It was a privilege to document Edna’s journey and the love that surrounded her on this momentous occasion.
