I recently had the pleasure of photographing Tinya's 60th birthday party at Tomguts Restaurant, and let me tell you, it was a photography experience like no other. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a burst of blue light from the neon signs decorating the venue. I knew right away that this would pose a challenge when it came to taking high-quality photos.
As I set up my Fujifilm camera, I decided to experiment with different film simulations to see which one would help counteract the blue light and bring out the warmth in the room. I finally settled on the Classic Chrome simulation, which muted the blue tones and gave the photos a timeless feel.
Despite my efforts with the Fujifilm camera, the lighting conditions still proved to be tricky. To combat this, I brought out my off-camera flash to add some much-needed brightness to the photos. By positioning the flash strategically around the room, I was able to achieve a more balanced lighting effect and capture the joy and laughter of the partygoers.
Once I had captured the photos, I imported them into Capture One Pro for post-processing. I adjusted the white balance, exposure, and colors to further enhance the images and bring out the vibrancy of the party. It was amazing to see how a little bit of editing could truly transform the photos and make them come to life.
Throughout the shoot, there were so many memorable moments that I will cherish forever. From the heartfelt speeches to the energetic dancing, it was a joy to document such a special occasion. As the night came to an end, I felt grateful to have been a part of Tinya's celebration and to have the opportunity to capture these precious memories for her and her loved ones.
Overall, the photography experience at Tinya's 60th birthday party was a challenging yet rewarding one. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to experiment with different techniques to overcome the tricky lighting conditions. In the end, I was able to deliver a beautiful collection of photos that Tinya and her guests will treasure for years to come.
